T'Owd Lad = The Devil
My son once told his mates that we were a boy band.
Some have observed that we play devilishly well.
T'Owd Lads are the Paraffin Ceilidhs band. We are based near
Howden, East Yorkshire
and play for many Ceilidhs, Barn Dances throughout the area. We will travel up to
100
miles from our base.
We want you to have a good time and get the service we would expect for ourselves. That way you book us again and tell your friends how wonderful we are.
It is never too early to book. We will try to fit you in at short notice but booking 6-12 months ahead of the event is best.
Between us we have around 100 years of experience playing and calling with other bands for Scottish, Irish, English and American dances.
Last year we became bookable in our own right and, since then, our reputation has soared. Most of the people who book us have heard us already or had us recommended. We rely on "word of mouth" as we feel that it is the best recommendation possible.
For the full authentic sound the normal band line up is;

If the budget is tight then we can be booked as

We have a number of brilliant "callers", each specialising in different formal/informal dances.
Some also play with the band.
